We recently did some refreshing to most of our house. After living here for almost 10 years post renovation, I had started to feel less in love with it all. We had the kitchen, mudroom and foyer/stairs painted, new Furinture for our hearth room and new lighting and hardware for most. I did what I would want to do to this house as if we were buying a new house. All of the new changes really have lifted my spirits. I’m taking my time putting everything back together. We’re still waiting on kitchen hardware, I haven’t hung any art and I still have yet to order/find a couple of finishing items for each room. I am making an effort to enjoy the slow process, but I am experiencing a little paralysis, afraid to make any big decisions, or put anything back the way it was.

Getting my office (the mudroom) back together was a top priority. I really love how the newly refreshed space feels. I went with a big color choice (Farrow & Ball in Mizzle, satin finish on all walls and trim) that makes the entire room feel like a treat to walk into. I feel so creatively inspired just being in here. I love the new hardware. I selected an Unlacquered Brass finish and found the best (affordable!) option here. I went with a very petite 1″ oval knob and classic cup pulls. I wish I had ordered these for my kitchen, but I went with a fancier, custom version… that I’m still waiting on. Fingers crossed they are worth the expense and the wait.

I made these new Inspiration Boards from foam insulation sheets + linen fabric. I’ll share a DIY soon. I have added the Brass Name Plates that make them look official. Love those little touches. The boards feature my snips from each collection while I plan and design. I love having the entire year laid out this way so I can see how they flow one season to the other.

I start each design with a painting, then translate it into a textile and wrapping paper design. You can see the collections, here. Our Spring Collection launched last week and has some new elements like paper journals and paper placemats. Of course, I alway have multiple tablets (we make the best with heavy cardstock) on my desk for each project I’m working on – helps keep my brain organized. I’ve just added this new pleated Charlotte Pillow to my chair (that is always layered with new collection).

Bing and I share this room, so he got a new fluffy (if not giant) dog bed, here. The floors in here are a constant battle because this is his main point of entry from the backyard. So far I have loved these sisal rugs. They’ve cleaned up nicely… and they are getting a major workout from the current “mud season.” I am so glad I didn’t order the custom cut and bound sisal I had planned on. These less expensive versions are exactly what this tough working space needed. And I won’t feel bad about replacing when the time comes.
