Poached Pears 2 pears, peeled 2 cups of red wine 1/2 cup of sugar 1/2 cup of orange juice 1/2 vanilla bean 2 cinnamon sticks 1 teaspoon of ground cloves In a saucepan, cook over low heat, wine, sugar, orange juice, vanilla, cinnamon & cloves.  Bring to a simmer.  Cut the pears in half vertically, and core them, removing the seeds and stems.  Cook the pears on low in the liquid for 5-10  minutes on each side.   Turn them off and leave them in the liquid until you’re ready to serve.  To serve, heat the liquid and the pears for 5 minutes until they are warm.
