The Nall Farmhouse | A JSH Styling Project

The Nall Farmhouse Project The area in which we live in Kansas City used to be all farmland and prairie.  A handful of large farmhouses built in the 1800’s sat amongst a couple hundred acres that now makeup our neighborhood area.  Most of the farmhouses still stand, some better than others.  Their surrounding farms were divided up in the early 1920 and 30’s into charming neighborhood streets.

My friend Molly and her husband took on the old farmhouse that was across the street from their own home.  It had been renovated and added onto over the years and when it finally came to market last year they jumped on the opportunity to bring it to life again.  After getting into the house and inspecting it, they discovered the original was too far gone with termite damage and foundation issues.

In keeping with their original vision, they worked with an architect to design a farmhouse that looked like the original had been updated for a modern family.  They salvaged what they could – mantles and pieces of flooring – to give some soul to the home from its predecessor.

I couldn’t help myself but to chime in and follow along the project on Instagram (@NallFarmhouse) and Molly consulted me on a couple of design elements like the kitchen and millwork since she knows my love for country homes.  The home was featured on a tour last weekend (and will be open for a public tour this coming) and she asked me to come in and style it with some of my products.

I immediately said yes because it just sounded like fun!  I had the school house girls come up with a car load of products and used a lot from my own home as well.   We brought pillows, frames, bread boards, flowers and big bunches of cherry branches from my yard.  It felt like a field trip.

Thanks to the school house girls and thanks to Molly and the Koenig Building Team for letting us come play and decorate!

I brought in big bunches of viburnum and bowls of oranges and lemons.

We created a gallery wall opposite the kitchen in the breakfast area.  Laurie so artfully (and painstakingly!) planned it out and hung them.

You know how much I love utility rooms.  Love the brick floor in the mudroom and pantry.  These feels like it could be original to the home. Market Totes

This hanging basket is a new product that will be available later this week with a special Mother’s Day Collection.

I love it in the mudroom for letters or newspapers – could easily hang off of a door knob, too.

We lined the shelves of the pantry with our Nantucket Baskets.  Look at that little stool Molly and her mom added – I love it and need one for my house asap.

Past the breakfast room is the hearth area.

Molly provided the sofa and we filled them with pillows and added baskets.
