A Real House Tour for Thanksgiving

The trouble with owning an online home store is that I have to decorate for the new collection a couple of months in advance.  I always have to force the season a bit.  It will be hot outside, still lush and warm, but I’m trying to make it look like a chilly (but warm an cozy…) autumn day inside.  I’ll be collecting sticks and branches of leaves trying to sway them in lighting to have a golden hue.  And when the glorious fall days do come, I’m inside pretending it is winter.

It is sort of fun to visit the next season ahead of time, but when the next season’s collections come down after photos, I jump right back into the current season so we can live normally.  When I redecorate for myself (for real), I always like what I do better than when I’m forcing it ahead of time for the photos.  I also feel pressure to use only items from the new collection so you all are able to purchase everything you see and replicate it for your own home.  In real life, our home is a bit more calm, uncluttered and more natural.

This season, I thought it would be fun to share what our home looks like when I go back and decorate for myself.  This week, I reset our home for Thanksgiving.  Mind you, I shot the official “Thanksgiving Collection” early in October.  For myself, as I often do, I pulled items from collections past and mixed and matched them with current favorites.  Because so many of my customers are so loyal, I know they (you!) also have pieces from past collections.  I thought you might what to see how I incorporate new items as well as old for “real life” in our home.

*Some of the items are still available (I will link them), but some have already sold out.  Sorry : )
