Martha Stewart’s Tag Sale at her farm in Bedford NY

Most of you know that I’m a huge Martha Stewart fan (nerd). I grew up watching her show after school, reading her magazine and continue to be inspired by the brand’s aesthetic – obviously. When she announced she was hosting a tag sale at her farm, on a whim I jumped on tickets. I had just turned 40 but I had been reluctant to plan a big celebration trip, as is the trend. So when this chance came up, I decided the trip (and whatever I would buy) would be a birthday present to myself.

We spent the most perfect spring weekend in New York – one night in the city to see a Broadway show (Wicked), then a night in Bedford at the Bedford Post Inn. The weather was beautiful. The city was alive with everyone walking around enjoying spring.

As always, the country was my favorite part. We love driving around pretty New England country villages. We even saw Ralph Lauren and his wife taking a Sunday drive in his bright yellow Ferrari. Quite the star-studded weekend for me!

It was a bit surreal to be at Martha’s farm, because it felt very normal. It was almost like any other estate sale, but with a little more buzz. We spotted Martha several times walking around doing interviews and inspecting the displays. She was very involved in the pricing and selling, telling shoppers the history behind the various pieces. We did not get a chance to get a photo with her, but chatted with her a couple of times about items I was buying.

I found lots of things that we had shipped back to our JSH Shop/headquarters in Lexington. I bought mostly things that felt very “Martha” (I know… huge nerd) in her signature color. I love that her things mix in there with our other country antiques. I also love that we use her chairs around the farmhouse table in our break room.

This is our JSH Shop in Lexington, our headquarters where all of our orders are shipped out. If you come visit, you can see all of our Martha goodies on display.
